Jackson Update

Here's an update on Mr. Jackson. He saw his ophthalmologist last week and we were told we could reduce the amount of time we use the eye patch from six hours a day to twenty hours a week. On June 13 Jackson will have an outpatient procedure done to correct his strabismus (the turning out of his right eye). On Monday we drove to Virginia to see Dr. Rosenblum, our plastic surgeon. He said that Jackson's head looks great, as does his lip and palate repairs. Dr. R does want to remove the scar tissue from his lip and take out the scar tissue that looks like screws on either side of his forehead. He said the forehead cuts will be minuscule. We did get thrown a surprise though, we found out that Jackson will need a bone graph in his alveolar ridge. They will do that around age eight. We have always known Jordan would need one but this is the first we have heard of for Jackson. The bone will allow his permanent teeth to root and be straight, whereas his baby teeth have caved in at that spot due to no bone being there. The speech therapist continues to be amazed at how well he speaks. He will need a little speech work to perfect his S sound but overall he does much better than she ever anticipated. Jackson is excited to start school, not much longer now.... he begins on July 7. Kindergarten here we come!
