Day by Day

Christmas pictures will be coming but bear with me. We are in the process of a move so it's a little crazy around here. Don't give up on me, I didn't abandon my blog.;)

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas..... well, except these 70 degree days we've had. Our house is decorated. Stockings are hung and candles are in the windows (too bad I forget to turn them on most nights). That is our tree in the photo above. We had no space for a tree this year so we went with a tabletop tree, and decorated it in plastic balls since Jordan is very interested in the tree (notice her being sneaky in the picture). This past weekend at church we had our birthday party for Jesus. Then on Sunday Adam and Jackson were in the Christmas play. Jackson was a shepherd. He was so cute and did great. He sang his little heart out. Jordan let me sit through about half the play, then she and I stood in the back foyer. I heard the rest but couldn't see it. Thankfully they recorded it so I will get to watch it in its entirety soon. After the play we had a social with goodies. Santa made an appearance. Jordan was very happy to see him, she was waving and telling him hello.... until I sat her down. You can see by the look on her face that she was over him! Jackson wouldn't go near him. He has never been a fan of people in costumes. He asked me on the way home why Santa looked funny (sorry Mr. Santa who took the time to come to our church). I explained that Santa has helpers. At first he was confused, he said that the elves were the helpers. Then a light bulb went off in his head and he said "I get it, the real Santa comes to our house and Santa helpers just go to church". I jsut smiled and nodded. There were gifts from Santa at the social. My kids were also given gifts by different members of the church. It was very nice of them to think of us. I told Jackson that he got plenty and maybe I should call Santa and tell him never mind on coming on the 25th. He just looked at me like I was crazy. On a side note, Jordan got her first mini haircut. She loves pulling her bows out now and her bangs were hanging in her face all the time. I trimmed them up so when she is bow-less she still looks presentable. I didn't even save a lock of hair, it was such a small trim, there wasn't a lock to save. But I do think this small cut gave her an older appearance. She looks like a toddler now..... and I really don't want her to be a toddler yet. She is taking three or four steps on her own, then lunging herself towards the person in front of her. It is only a matter of time now. *sigh*

Jordan has taken her sweet time trying to walk and I can't say that I mind. I want her to stay my baby as long as possible and once she starts walking she's officially a toddler. We have not given her a push walker, I was worried that it would slip out from under her on our slick floors. She got creative yesterday, she discovered that her Leapfrog Learning Table does the job well. She was pushing it all over and laughing hysterically. She even knows how to maneuver around it when it is up against something so that she can keep moving.

Happy (late) Thanksgiving! We went back home to celebrate our holiday. The kids had a great time playing with their cousins. We had three, yes three Thanksgiving dinners. Needless to say we were stuffed!




While we were back home Jordan spent some time swinging at my favorite little park. This was her first real time swinging, last time she gave it an attempt she was scared. Not this time, she was in love. She love laughing and having a grand time! After we came back home Adam took the youth group ice skating. We all went with him. Jackson was so excited to ice skate for the first time. He could walk around like a pro on the skates. He would get on the ice and almost immediately say "I'm done, I want to get off". We'd skate him up to the next door and out he'd go. About five minutes later he'd say he was ready to skate again. Within seconds he'd be done. I think in total he skated for one minute. regardless, he was so proud to walk around in those ice skates.

I thought boys were the mischievous ones. In our house that isn't the case. Jordan seems to be more sneaky than Jackson was. I was folding laundry and caught Jordan in the act of climbing into my clean clothes. She loves to climb, the stairs, into kid chairs, the laundry. You name it, she tries to climb it. She is thinking about walking. She's been cruising on furniture for months now. She has just gotten brave enough to let go and stand there. Not much longer now and she'll be even more mobile, if that is possible. This is one milestone I am not rushing, she can take her time on walking.


Jackson is doing great. He still doesn't get a stamp on his hand every day (for great behavior at school) but he is getting them more than he used to. Last week he got them four days out of five. He is starting to work on sight words and is doing well with them. Last week he was quizzed on them and got all four correct. He just had to call members of our family to tell them "I have great news, I passed my spelling test". He was so excited to see more words in his folder this week to learn.
