Thanksgiving

Happy (late) Thanksgiving! We went back home to celebrate our holiday. The kids had a great time playing with their cousins. We had three, yes three Thanksgiving dinners. Needless to say we were stuffed!

While we were back home Jordan spent some time swinging at my favorite little park. This was her first real time swinging, last time she gave it an attempt she was scared. Not this time, she was in love. She love laughing and having a grand time! After we came back home Adam took the youth group ice skating. We all went with him. Jackson was so excited to ice skate for the first time. He could walk around like a pro on the skates. He would get on the ice and almost immediately say "I'm done, I want to get off". We'd skate him up to the next door and out he'd go. About five minutes later he'd say he was ready to skate again. Within seconds he'd be done. I think in total he skated for one minute. regardless, he was so proud to walk around in those ice skates.

Mischievous

I thought boys were the mischievous ones. In our house that isn't the case. Jordan seems to be more sneaky than Jackson was. I was folding laundry and caught Jordan in the act of climbing into my clean clothes. She loves to climb, the stairs, into kid chairs, the laundry. You name it, she tries to climb it. She is thinking about walking. She's been cruising on furniture for months now. She has just gotten brave enough to let go and stand there. Not much longer now and she'll be even more mobile, if that is possible. This is one milestone I am not rushing, she can take her time on walking.

Jackson is doing great. He still doesn't get a stamp on his hand every day (for great behavior at school) but he is getting them more than he used to. Last week he got them four days out of five. He is starting to work on sight words and is doing well with them. Last week he was quizzed on them and got all four correct. He just had to call members of our family to tell them "I have great news, I passed my spelling test". He was so excited to see more words in his folder this week to learn.

Here I am

I didn't realize I haven't posted since Halloween, now we are halfway through November. Time is flying! We've been busy around here. Jackson is back in school after being tracked out. Adam is wrapping up his semester at college and planning things for our church's youth group to do. We've gone on a mini vacation and enjoyed spending time with family. And most recently we received quite the Christmas blessing. There is a local church who puts on a toy chest for students from Adam's school. They take up donations all year and go Christmas shopping. Students get to shop at 10% of the retail cost. I went this morning and took part in this event. I got there early, really early. After waiting in the rain, registering, and hanging around for a few hours we were let into their gym in order (I was #17 and I know the numbers went at least into the 160s). In the gym there were tables upon tables of toys, all grouped by age. There were large toys, bikes, if you can name it, it was likely there. There were church members everywhere asking if they could hold something for you, help you find something, they were super nice. They had a huge raffle of 50 items, things like Wiis, iPods, Macbooks, camcorders, etc. While I didn't win a raffle, it was still awesome. I picked up a large item for Jordan, a small thing for her, and three nice sized things for Jackson... I won't post what I bought since they are for Christmas, not that they can read but still. My entire purchase was worth over $100 I am sure. My cost, $10. I feel so blessed to have been able to participate in such a wonderful ministry. And to make it even better, 100% of the profit goes to Lottie Moon. Adam is on a retreat with the youth this weekend so I went solo. if we are able to participate next year I plan to bring him along. The doors opened at 9am and within 10 minutes the shopping was pretty much done. It will be nice to divide and conquer instead of one person trying to find items for both children in two different spots. I did it, but that is because I have shopping in my blood, I am related to some serious shoppers.;) It will also be nice to have someone to talk to in line. I was there for three and a half hours. I brought a book but Adam is better company than a book any day.:)

Halloween

So here are pictures from Halloween and our church's fall festival, when I actually remembered costumes.:) I had a Panthers football player and a Panthers cheerleader, I wanted to "match" them before Jackson is too cool to match his sister.;) We went trick or treating in the historic district of our town. It was neat, most of the homes went all out in decor and costumes. Jackson loved it and Jordan was content in her stroller. I think she was wondering why we were out for a stroll in the dark! Fall festival at church was fun. They did a cakewalk and Jackson won twice! When he won he jumped out of his chair and yelled "Wooooo!"

4th 4th Tag

I've been tagged with a 4th 4th tag. To fulfill the tag, I have to open the 4th folder in my picture files and post the 4th picture in that file along with a description and/or explanation of the picture.

We went to a Spooktacular in town last week. For some reason I didn't think about costumes (duh, Spooktacular, Halloween). AS we parked and i see that every other child is dressed up I think quick.... Jordan is too little to notice but Jackson will definitely pick up on it. I look him over, ah-ha guitars! When Jackson asked why he didn't have on a costume I told him that he did, he was a rockstar. So all evening he flashed the peace sign and told people he was a Rockstar. Whew, crisis avoided.;)

I'm tagging Shannon (ABC Frye) and Heather (adventures of aidanpod).
